Growing up, I was always heavy. I played many sports but never seemed to lose weight. I was never really bothered by this growing up but as time passed, it began to bother me, but I continued to live life as I always had. After graduating from Cobden High School, my activity level decreased because I didn’t have the same opportunities to play sports as I had done throughout school. I became less active, then bored, then depressed, and depended on food to help me feel better.
It was in December, 2015, at a new high of 368 pounds, with a 48 inch waist, that I knew I had to give myself another chance. After doing research and contacting a few gyms, I received one response to my quest for help, from Warehouse, who I found on Facebook. Coach Hoffman reached out to me and provided the information I needed and invited me to the gym to participate in a class. Though I was nervous about going, concerned with my size, expecting people to judge me, I knew I had to go. My first session was January 16, 2016, meeting with Coach Hoffman. Shortly after we finished my first session, all the mind games I had played with myself began to disappear; I knew I was in the right place. I met so many great coaches who made me feel comfortable, and I couldn’t be any happier. The atmosphere at this gym is awesome; everyone supports each other and the coaches actually care for you and want to see you achieve your goal of becoming a happier, healthier you. It is now July 25, 2016, and I’m down to 244 pounds, having lost 124 pounds. I give a lot of credit to the gym and its employees, as well as to myself. The coaches have helped me to believe in myself and have proven to me that it is possible to reach a goal, but that it takes time and determination.
